When you activate the PhoneThru Receiver app on your mobile device, your PhoneThru landline numbers are updated to forward incoming calls to the app instead of your mobile phone number. This means instead of dialing your mobile when a call comes in, we try to connect to the Receiver app over the internet instead.
If we can’t reach your Receiver app, we’ll send you a text message letting you know you’ve missed a call and linking it here.
Here’s what to check to get your Receiver app back online.
Is the Receiver App running?
Open the app and check that it is running normally without any error messages. The app doesn’t have to be on-screen to receive calls; but on some devices you need to open it at least once after you force-close the app or reboot your device. If Receiver is running already, try restarting the app by force-closing it and launching it again.
Is the Receiver App displaying an error message?
The Receiver app needs to access our servers over the internet. If it can’t connect to our servers it will display an error message on the main screen. Confirm that your device can access the internet. If the device does have internet access but the Receiver app still shows an error there may be something on your network blocking the connection. Try switching networks. If you’re on WiFi switch to mobile data, or if you’re on mobile data, switch to WiFi.
Forward calls to your mobile number
If all else fails, and you don’t want to miss any calls, you can change your settings to send incoming calls to your mobile number instead. You’ll find instruction to do that here. Please remember that calls forwarded to your mobile number will use your call minutes.
How to tell if a text message is genuine
When we send you a text message, the text sender will always be PhoneThru. If the text is about a missed call, we’ll include your first name, the number that called you and your PhoneThru landline number. The help link will always start with https://phonethru.com. Don’t click any links in any text message unless you’re sure it’s legitimate. Contact us if you have any doubts!.
