When you’ve finished with your PhoneThru landline number, there’s nothing you really have do to close your account. If you do nothing, any remaining minutes will expire and around two weeks after that your landline number will be released and removed from your account.
You’ll get a text notification when your minutes are about to expire and again when your number is about to be removed, but you can safely ignore those. With no automated recharges, you don’t have to worry about a computer somewhere dipping into your bank account to pay for a number you no longer use.
You’ll also continue to receive calls but you can turn off call forwarding if you don’t want to receive them.
If you’re the sort who likes to break it off clean, then here’s how to formally close your account.
Be warned, closing your account will release all your landline numbers and remove them from your account. Any unused minutes will be permanently lost.
Closing Your Account
Sign in to your account at https://phonethru.com/login and tap the CHANGE PROFILE button. (The VIEW ACCOUNT button at the bottom of the page works as well). You’ll be taken to the Account page.
Scroll to the bottom of the Account page until you’ll find the Close Account section with the big red button that says CLOSE ACCOUNT. Tap it.
You’ll be asked why you’re closing your account. Choose an answer and tap the CLOSE ACCOUNT NOW button.
It’s worth repeating that this is a bad idea if you have unused call minutes and there is even a small chance you’ll want them back again.
All done!
